Peerless Technologies Obtains
SBA HUBZone Certification

Dayton, Ohio - Peerless Technologies Corporation announced today it is now a certified contractor under the Small Business Administration's (SBA's) HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program. The HUBZone program provides federal contracting opportunities for qualified small businesses located in Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones). The SBA's goal is to promote the growth of these contractors as viable businesses to help empower communities, create jobs, and attract private investment.

The SBA's HUBZone program fosters efforts of both the Administration and Congress to promote economic development and employment growth in HUBZone areas by providing access to more Federal contracting opportunities. Currently, the HUBZone program applies to procurements by the following Federal agencies: Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Agriculture (USDA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), General Services Administration (GSA), and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997 increases the overall government wide procurement goal for small business from 20% to 23%. The statute sets the goal for HUBZone contracts as follows: Fiscal Year 2000 - 1 ½ %; 2001 - 2%; 2002 - 2 ½ %; 2003; and each year thereafter - 3%. The HUBZone program provides for three types of contract awards -- Competitive, Sole Source, Full and Open Competition.
